We are thrilled to announce Karen Hernandez, COTA, as Therapy Depot’s Provider of the Year! This award celebrates her exceptional contributions and her embodiment of our mantra: “Do More, Not Less.”

Karen joined the Therapy Depot family in 2017, bringing a wealth of experience from her career in skilled nursing facilities, where she specialized in adult and geriatric care. However, her curiosity and passion for expanding her knowledge inspired her to explore pediatric care. Encouraged by a referral from a classmate, Karen ventured into the world of pediatric homecare, seeking to broaden her skill set and serve clients across the entire lifespan.

Starting part-time while still working in skilled nursing, Karen quickly demonstrated her dedication and adaptability. As an essential healthcare worker during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Karen displayed courage and resilience, continuing to provide vital therapy services in the homes of children and families.  She soon transitioned to full-time pediatric/adult homecare with Therapy Depot, where she truly flourished.  Enjoying the freedom of schedule, and movement outside of the 4 walls of the rehab gym she found that working in the patient’s environment was truly how to promote independence in her patients and family’s lives.

Recognizing a growing trend of pediatric patients with behavioral challenges, Karen eagerly embraced opportunities for professional growth. Supported by excellent training, supervision, and her own determination, she pursued additional continuing education courses through our program and became proficient in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), adding a powerful new dimension to her therapeutic approach.

Karen’s hunger for knowledge and commitment to delivering the best possible care have made her an indispensable part of the Therapy Depot family and team. Her journey exemplifies our shared mission to elevate therapy services and impact lives meaningfully.
